I just did the Gunk trick today and was very impressed. The Gunk will dry the rubber parts out but the Armorall fixes that and makes everything look beautiful. I took before and after pics and will post them tomorrow.

OK, here are the before and after pics of using the Gunk/Armour all method. My engine bay wasn't TOO dirty before like the Integra above, but you can see that the overall shine of the entire bay is amazing after the process. I plan on doing this regularly now to keep my bay nice and shiney.

Ok, i just spent 5 hours cleaning my car and now I can't wait to go out and get this Gunk/Armor All combo to start cleaning my engine bay. Like they say, a picture is worth a thousand words, and in this case the pics are VERY convincing.

The water doesn't effect the electrical components or engine at all. I've done it many many times.
Even the alternator doesn't have to be covered at all??

What if you spray the water on the air filter and then you start the car, isn't it going to suck up the water? I know it's not enough water to hydrolock the engine, but still..it doesn't affect anything at all?

Nothing needs to be covered unless you have an exposed air filter. In OEM form, you have the airbox lid on, right? Just don't aim a high pressure water jet close up and directly at anything. You use the water nozzle as a rinse.
