can anyone confirm for me if silver has a clear coat on it, just so i know what products to get for the car...

It's my OPINION that all the S2000s are clear-coated ... there's been some debate about the red ... but I think this thread http://honda-acura.net/forum/Forum21/HTML/005055.html explains the issue ...

What the heck kind of wax you gonna buy that ISN'T clear coat safe?! The 1.50 special at your local garage?

Stick with Zymol/Mothers/Zano(never used it).

 

ankuse, I have a silver S too. It does have a clear coat. If you are ordering Zaino, Get the Z1, Z2, Z6 ans Z7. That is what I ordered.

 

ya im gonna get the zaino i was just reading the FAQ and it said what products to buy....based on if u have a clearcoat or not, ill be getting everythin u got firsts2k, but what about z-5, im gonna go to the store and buy them tommorrow most likely, the zaino company is in howell nj i think but they don't sell the products from there just mail order, but also in the same town there is a store that does sell them, its about an hour from my college.

Helm S2000 Body Repair Manual (Ref: Body Paint Section 5-2)indicates that the stock stook is finished with a 3C-3B process...that is three coats and three bakes:

1st = Zinc Phosphate + Electrodeposition (undercoat)
2nd = Chipping Primer + Intermediate Coat
3rd = Solid Color Enamel + Clearcoat (or)
Metallic Enamel + Clearcoat (or)
Pearl Enamel + Clearcoat

So yes there is a clearcoat........
