Bumping a thread here, but in this situation it helps to remove the carpet from the interior and blast it with an electric pressure washer and add some detergent like Palmolive or Dawn. Did this once to deal with other filth and the carpets came out brand new. You'd be shocked how much black water comes off even a well vacuumed carpet.
