Part of an email from 1z from back in 2008.

"Cockpit Premium protects against fading due to heat (thermal protection). Vinyl-Rubber Care and Protectant offers UV protection by using UV absorbers because it’s for use on exterior components. Because Cockpit Premium is used on the interior, it’s not necessary to have UV protection because automotive glass today absorbs practically all UV."

No mention of UV protection, http://www.1z-usa.com/einszett_cockpit_premium.html

My question is email from 1Z north America or the actual 1Z?
1Z NA is similar to Menzerna USA and Dodo Juice USA: basically a licensed reseller / distributer of the original products. Sometimes the information that is put out is not 100% accurate. For example, Menzerna Powerlock is not a true Menzerna product, but a product that's using the Menzerna USA name.

Reason I ask is because I've heard this before too: Cockpit Premium doesn't have true protective agents. I've also heard people quote 1Z as saying it does. While it seems the information you've posted may be 100% right on (at least looks good in my eyes), its hard to say as straight from the manufacturer, and I don't speak German, so the chance to interact with actual 1Z is little to none.

Lastly, while its easy to say one is marketed as having UV protection while the other does not specify, it could be because, as assumed - CP doesn't have UV protection while the other does, or because of marketing. Just as Zaino is "show car polish" but its not a polish at all - rather a sealant. Or NXT2.0 is "tech wax" ... more sealant. Or Zymol has Royale "Glaze" .... just wax. When most people are looking for a vinyl product, UV ray protection is a must because we all know how it can crack and become brittle over time. Its like "conditioner" for leather - coated leather does not need to be "conditioned" but selling a product without that keyword would be much harder.
If anyone can help shed some light... please do

All this talk about UV radiation persuaded me to apply some M40 to my dash today. I do have the top down a lot during the summer months. The dash does look good--a bit darker than the look one gets from Cockpit Premium but still matte (especially if one wipes the dash off with a microfiber towel after a minute or so).

Dont get me wrong, I love 1z cockpit premium. I've been using it for years, use it on my car, and use it on all non vert details.

The email was from 1z USA. It very well could be marketing. One thing I have noticed is that every dressing I've used which has UV protection is a milky color (303, 1z vinyl/ rubber, CG VRT, leather protectants with UV, etc.). 1z CP does not have this milky color.

Modern windows filter out 95%+ of UV rays. Add tint to that and you're filtering out 99%. Heat is what causes the most damage.

As leather heats up the moisture level is disrupted and thats what causes the cracking. So leather should be cleaned and protected with water based products which, like 1z CP, add thermal protection.

With verts you want these products to have UV protection as well. But UV protection is not your main concern with other vehicles.

Regarding M40: my experience taught me to avoid using it on the convertible top, for whatever it's worth. I applied it evenly, and buffed it at least a couple times after applying it. The top looked great, but man did that stuff run all over my windows. Not just once, either - it did it for like three rainstorms. I hated that.

Anyway, I tried Autoglym Vinyl-Rubber a week or two, and really like it. Very similar to 1Z Vinyl-Rubber, but available locally. It even smells good.
