Hi. newbie to the S2k. I was just wondering what you guys used to brush the softtop prior to applying the 303 cleaning stuff. Thanks in advance.

& welcome socaguy

I think most (certainly I do) just wash the vinyl soft top with car shampoo and mitt as the rest of the car and then apply 303. Applying 303 to the applicator first and then the roof.

hope that helps

Rob

thanks. I tried vacum and needless to say that didn't work too well. Thought of a soft brush but not sure if it'd help that much.

a mitt?? duh.. somehow that never crossed my mind. thank you!!!

wanabe: I noticed sand & dirt in a few places (my work is near a beach) but probably not that bad. I think I'll go with the mitt.

Actually, washing the top with a brush IME is more effective than washing it with a mitt. I don't do it every time, but when I use a brush to clean the top it comes out looking cleaner. It's probably because the brush gets into the nooks and crannies of the top's texture better. I just use a carpet/upholstery brush. Just don't use a really stiff one.
