Default Dive bombed

Yow. Getting in the car last night on the way home from work I discovered that I'd been totally hammered on the hood by an obnoxious bird. It had to be the biggest pile of $hit I have seen from a bird in a long time. Like, 4 inches long!! Bastard.

Anyway, thank goodness I carry a bottle of detail spray and mf in the trunk. What totally surprised me was that the bird had to have hit me within a 3 hour time period - and his mess was already starting to chalk up and harden on the hood. I would imagine that it wouldn't have taken long for that crap to actually leave a permanent mark on the hood.

So, lesson to you all who aren't already doing it! Detail spray and mf towels in the trunk should be mandatory. And a tip - keep the mf towel in a ziploc type bag to keep any dirt or grunge that's in your trunk from getting stuck on the mf.

glad that you were prepared!
i carry detail spray soaked towels and dry ones too just for incidents like yours...
did it leave any "shadow" on the car, or were you able to get it all up?
... my recollection is that you have a good finish on your car and that probably protected it.
btw, that is one of the reasons that i try to always cover my car- never have to worry about paint etching from birds!

No shadow - just one more reason to keep the car cleaned up and maintained!

Bet that was one nasty towel once you cleaned it up. I've had that happen a time or two and just wait until I get home when I can blast it with a hose. This is where a good wax job comes into play because I'd sooner hit something like that with high pressure than smear dried crap around with detail spray.

I have this mental picture of a guy siting next to his car with a shotgun.
