Default Double Sided Tape

I was wondering what the best way to apply double sided tape would be? Is there an ideal outdoor temp? Should the metal or fiberglass be clean or treated with anything special? Should the application surface be heated up? Any help would be appricated.

It's best to apply any kind of adhesive in when warm (at least 60 to 70 degrees). No need to heat it up any further than this. Wash the area clean of any oils or dirt and dry (like you would when you normally wash the car). Then rub the area down with alcohol (isopropyl will do) and air dry a minute or two. Then apply the tape. Hold object firm against the vehicle surface for about a minute. Don't wash that area for about a day or so.
