Default Dry Dusting OEM Black Hardtop ?

Just got a black oem hardtop installed on my sebring silver car. I cleaned and waxed it before it went on the car. I just find that it gets dusty and it shows up on the roof much more than the silver painted car.

Can I dry dust the top, or will this scratch the surface ?, I was thinking about getting a soft brush if it is safe to use. Or should I always use a wet cloth to clean the dust off the roof surface ?. The car never gets dirt on it as it is garaged and only goes out on sunny dry days, it will get dusty and the black top is more obvious than the rest of the car.

thanks for any replies.

That's the thing about black. I'm not sure I'd dry dust any paint, but you may try a California Duster, I've heard good things about those.

That is always the issue with black. I have a BB hard top on my Silverstone car.

I use a Cali duster - it works well for removing dust.

I also use quick detailer and Optimum No Rise http://www.detailersdomain.com/optimum-car...ine1gallon.aspx

good answers above. my car gets dusted at least a coupla times a week, followed often by a quick detailer spray. and then covered!!

the trick, to minimize swirls, is a light flick- you dont rub the duster on the paint- after a time or two you will get the feel for this.

we look forward to seeing pics of your clean car if you can post em up. if so, pm me the link and i will badge you!

thanks for all of the quick replies, yeah I was thinking about those cali duster brushes when I mentioned dry dusting it, wasn't sure if those things were any good or not, but sounds like they could be safe. Quick detailing spray is a great idea too, definitely going to get both of those items.

This the first car that I've owned that I won't use for work purposes so I intend to spend the time to keep it clean. I don't have to take it out of the garage if the weather is crappy , that is so nice for a change.

I just powdercoated my ap1 wheels, they put a ton of grease on my new tires when they installed them on the rims , so I just got done cleaning them all up finally. Hopefully I can snap some pictures now.

Thanks for the help on this one
