Default Drying off the S2000??

What are most people using to dry off their S2000's with after they wash them? I have used towels and shammies in the past. Shammies seem to soak up water but drag dirt across you paint. I'm especially interested in owners of black S2000s.

Check out www.properautocare.com. They have a variety of products. Some here use the California water blade and/or the Blue towel. Some use a leaf blower or air compressor combined with a towel of some sort. If you car is clean, you shouldn't have to worry about dragging dirt across the paint.

If you don't mind your neighbors looking at you like you're out of your mind, a leaf blower works fantastic. Takes less than 10 minutes and does a much better job than a chamois. Plus you're not dragging grit that may get caught in the chamois across the car. Even if you elect to dry your car with a chamois or waterblade you should try the leaf blower on the wheels, it does a great job on them.

Leaf blowers can work very well (and yes your neighbours think that you are in need of a 12 step program), but be careful. Alot of 2 cycle gas powered leaf blowers put the exhaust in the air stream. You might end up blowing a fine mist of 2 cycle oil all over your freshly washed car.

If you want to get more water off the car before beginning the drying process, take the nozzle off the hose and let the water flow across the surface. Most of the water will sheet off the car instead of forming millions of beads.

I like using an electric leaf blower. It helps evacuate water from the various water traps on the car and makes one less time you touch the finish with anything. The final step is going over the car with Z-6 Gloss Enhancer to remove any freshly made water spots that might be present and to slick up the surface.

I have a black S2000, I use the California wiper blade on it followed by a pure cotton towel (I have microfibre towels on order, still waiting for them to arrive ). I am very happy with the results...here is a pic...you decide...

I also use a soft chamois on my black s2k.
I'm also very anal about swirl marks and scratches.

Basically when using the chamois I don't put any pressure on it whatsoever. I let the weight of the water hold it to the car then drag for a bit. I also do the car in sections (ie. after doing the bonnet I'll rinse the chamois in a large bucket of water, then do the front right quater panel, rinse, door, etc.).

that leaf blower thing sounds dangerous. What happens if there's some sand blowing around? Sand blasted black s2000?

wil..
