Default Dusty Interior

My dash gets dusty VERY easy and it seems like when i clean it is only takes a few more outings in the car to collect more visible dust!
*puts on flame suit* I used armorall on it a few times but i dont think it got it any better than just wiping it off with a rag like i did the last time. Is there anything out there that repels dust or am i stuck with wiping it down every other day? Its not my DD and sits in my garage. Id say at this time of the year I'm at about 50/50 top up/down and only guessing my dust collection will get worse as the top stays down. Any tips or is this what I get for having a black interior!

BTW first time in the W&W forum....pretty nice in here...and clean

California duster, takes less than 30 seconds to wipe down, no big deal for me

Sorry, dust is just part of owning a convertible. Mine collects a noticeable amount of dust after a day or two of top-down driving as well. I keep a rag and some QD in the trunk to wipe it down every now and then

nate4635- welcome to the wackiest and friendliest forum on the board!!

as diabolus said, dust happens! you can minimize it and put some uv protection on your interior at the same time with protectants...
you need separate protectants for leather and vinyl.
for vinyl, the choices are 303, vinylex, and raggtopp (vinyl one). note that there are several products missing from this list. can you name one? !! (detail snob talking)
for leather, you need two products- one to clean and another to protect. favs on this board are townsends, lexol, and (hmmm... blanking on the other one right now- but the beauty of this board is that someone will fill in the blank).

and the conclusion: its all opinion in our house... if you like the product that you are using, thats what really matters!
my first choices:
leather = townsends (cause i like how the cleaner makes the seats feel like new, and i like how the conditioner keeps them that way)
vinyl = vinylex (cause i like the level of shine that it gives without having to reduce or increase the product)

but again, its a very personal choice...

For quick cleanups of the dust between full interior details I just use Megs Wipes. The QID one for the vinyl, and the Gold Class leather ones for the leather.

During a full detail I do the vinyl with 303, and use Zaino Z9 & Z10 on the Leather.

California dusters come in two sizes that I have seen. A small one for the interior, and a larger one for the exterior. I use the small one to dust the dash and instrument cluster in literally 10 seconds. Use of something "greasy" like armorall will make your dusting job harder, and can actually contribute to drying and cracking of your dash! Treat your dash with a non-greasy product that provides provection against the sun's UV rays. I chose 303, but there may be others too.

Dust is a fact of life. Using the most non-greasy protectant helps. I have found DP Interior Surface Protectant to leave the driest finish and therefore attract the least dust.

Right on guys, thanx.
I have looked for 303 at checker, autozone, etc......with no luck. Is it some super secret stuff I need to find in an alley somewhere or am I just not looking hard enough?

Some sources for 303 are www.performanceproducts.com, Some Ace Hardware stores, and many boat dealers. For some strange reason, Auto Zone and the like don't sell it. It's like Plexus for plastic rear windows. You have to get it at motorcycle shops! Sometimes I think these car parts stores have their heads up their butts on some of these better products -- but that's another story for another day.

Thanks,
Richard

Keeping a swiffer sheet in your secret compartment for the occasional quick wipedown does wonders as well.
