I've been using the Gilmour Foamaster II Quart for a little while now and really like it. I'd really like to find a good soap to use with it. I've used eagle one soap which I really like, but it doesn't seem to give enough suds when using it with the foam gun. So far my favorite soap is Wolfgangs auto bathe. I have not used it in the foam gun because the foam gun uses so much soap at one time and Wolfgang's auto bathe is fairly expensive. There are so many different soaps to choice from I have no idea where to start.

 

good question... unless you are using pressure with the gun, most car shampoos are gonna be pretty similar. i have used just about everything i could find and concluded that it doesnt matter. i know that this is a contrarian view. everyone i know has a fav, so maybe you will get some diff answers to this.

 

Is the basic idea of a foam gun to remove as much dirt off the car (and hence greatly reducing the chance of swirls) as possible before doing a hand wash?

 

wanabe, how do you get more pressure to the foam gun besides a standard hose? I do have a pressure washer, but I'm not sure how that would hook up to the foam gun.

I think you can do either both. I usually spray it down completely with the foam gun and then spray it as I'm wiping.
