Default Fresh Paint

So I had a little mis-hap and ran into some flying glass/wire and every panel on the car was going to be re-sprayed except the trunk and passenger 1/4 panel. I was such a b!tch about them color matching poorly that they are re-painting the entire car now (same color) but with better quality (more resistant to rock chips) paint than OEM.

I have been using Zaino products up to this point and have several coats on there that will be lost. So i'm just wondering if there is anything special that I should do when I get my car back? Is it necessary to clay right after fresh paint? The car will be put in storage when I get it back anyways so I will have lots of time on my hands

I do not have a PC, but keep in mind that I have all Zaino Products

Thanks for you help.
I look forward to the opportunity to earn a Wash and Wax badge shortly!

here is the car a couple of months ago

whenever i get fresh paint i always check for orange peel first.

check to see if they colorsanded since they painted your entire car. if they didnt i would get them to colorsand your entire car, or else your paint will look like poo poo

if it was all done, start waxing! people say you should wait a couple of months for the paint to GAS out. thats not true unless the paint they used must be left with open pores for that long. the newer paint used now only needs about a couple of weeks sometimes just a couple of days.

I'd recommend asking the body shop first about whether you can start waxing and applying sealants after the paint job.

hmm interesting johngt3. Does anyone else have any experience about how to pamper fresh paint? I would really like to be able to detail my car because we should have snow on the ground for the next 4 months up here and the car will be in storage. Could be a long winter if I shouldn't wax.

thanks wanabe, i didn't feel deserving enough at the time the pictures were taken. maybe i'll do a photoshoot this winter with some snowbanks in the background
new work s1 3 piece will be on the car too

u really should ask them because they know what paint they used and how long it needs to sit before sealing pores

I just had my whole driver side repainted due to it being keyed. The body shop that I use is very knowledgeable, and I was told not to wax it for 2 months. Definitely ask the body shop.

TBH, I would trade all the Zaino in the world for one single PC. Machine polishing your car will make it WAY more shiney than any wax or sealant ever could on it's own.

cmon bro, ur car is super clean. From my personal experience, yes you can polish and wax fresh new paint, but DO NOT USE SEALANT, fresh paint need to breath so you do not want seal it. Oh do ask the body shop to wet sand your car it would look like show car gloss after.
