I think we've pretty well hijacked it already, sorry OP

Maybe your MF (it's a waffle weave type, right?) needs to be washed really well and rinsed with white vinegar in the rinse cycle to remove soap, sealant or wax buildup. I try to wash my WW drying towels separate from polish or wax removal towels to avoid contaminating them and reducing their absorbancy.
