Default HELP! Leaking roof

Just as the description says, I have water seeping through at the corners where the roof, A-pillar and window meet. Its coming in at both corners. Is there anything I can do or do I need to change the weather proofing seals? Also, could it be the strikers that are'nt pulling the softtop as tight as possible to channel the water into the little channels in the rubber?

Cheers
Andrew

I take it this is something that has just started since you have an older car?
Have you ever done any regular maintenance on the rubber seals? It might be long overdue and might even be too late. Any window rubber seal on any car needs silicone grease treatment at least annually.

I had the car since last april. Unfortuneately it was in the garage for 4 -5 months having an engine rebuild. Just got it back in December and greased the seals, but its started to leak again. I suppose the previous owner didnt really look after it. If its too late, what would I need to do?

So, you mean that after you greased it, it was OK for a while and now it's started to leak again or has it not rained till now? I guess you could try another regreasing as long as you have the product on hand. What are you using? A silicone grease or emulsion is best. Apply a layer on, leave it for several minutes to soak in before wiping off any excess.
If this fails, then the seals are toast and you'll have to look into getting replacement seals.

You may need to get the windshield frame seal and the first section of soft top rubber seal.

Been using a silicone grease. I'll give it a try once more, if not then its off to the dealer to get the seals replaced. Think I migh tjust do it anyway and that way I'll deffo be ok for next winter.

Might also check the strikers. I was having this problem and replaced the strikers with hardtop strikers (~$50 from hardtopguy), as well as greasing the seals with Shin Etsu grease ($12 from the dealer).

My old strikers looked like this (after swapping sides at one point) and weren't holding the top down all the way:

If you get new strikers, get the ones intended for the hard top they hold the top tighter. This is a fix for a rattling top from Honda...

I don't believe Honda sells any other kind. All S2000s from about 2002 and newer came with the heavy duty strikers already on the car.

Thanks for the tips guys, got some new strikers. Would it be best to have a garage fit them or is it a job I could do myself? If I can DIY then any idea how hard it could be?

thanks again

*I* would consider it an easy DIY job.

See this link for a diagram:
http://www.hardtopguy.com/store/customer/p...p?productid=250

Basically you have to remove the plastic trim piece on the underside of the windshield frame. To do that, you start by:
- removing the map light shield, map light assembly (a could of phillips screws and clips)
- removing the visors (a screw or two each)
- the two a-pillar trim pieces on either side of the windshield
... pull away and up from behind the edges of the dash or simply pull the top away enough to get at the main piece
- top trim piece - pull down and away.
- two phillips screws on each of the strikers and put it all back together

30 minutes top.
