Help removing swirls with PC 7424 and Pinnacle XMT
This is the first time I have used my new PC... I'm also using pinnacle xmt #3 #2 and #1 swirl remover. Im using the products on my fathers 96 mercedes c220 (black). Initially I used an orange ccs pad with the #2 swirl remover but there were still alot of swirls and hazing. I then tried the #3 and orange pad with more pressure followed up with a white pad and #1 swirl remover. There are still swirls but there is also a hazing effect on the hood. I understand I may need a more aggressive pad and polish to get rid of the swirls but what is causing the hazing? I use a quarter size of product for a 2x2 area and to my understanding I am fully breaking down the product. I've also watched the videos on autogeek.net

Here is what i'm working with.... I have no idea how my dad did this to his car. I guess after 12 years this might be expected
BEFORE
AFTER
Here are my results after 3 passes with the XMT intermediate swirl remover #3 (orange CCS pad) and 2 passes of XMT fine swirl remover #1 (white CCS pad)
It doen't seem like this polish is abrasive enough for the swirls my dad put into the paint/clear
]
Maybe I need to use more pressure with the #3 swirl remover. Its recommended to use 15-20lbs of pressure... I might be letting off the pressure too soon
OR
I am wondering if I need to step up to a Yellow CCS pad and Pinnacle XMT Heavy Duty Swirl Remover #4

what was your technique??
you might need to go more aggressive, but first lets make sure you are using proper technique--
the fact that the paint still has issues before your light polish and then has haze after the light polish makes me wonder whether maybe you have not fully worked the polish to dust.

I initially used those XMT products you mentioned. Switched to Mezerna and it's alot better. XMT generates ALOT of powder!!! The product is OK but not abrasive enough for that there in the pics.
Also you may want to move slower to break down the product better.

My technique is as follows...
- used a quarter size amount of product for a 2x2 area
- I evenly spread the product on the hood with the pc off, then followed by speed 3
- once evenly spread, I set the PC to speed 6 to break down the polish
- I used slow over lapping passes (a few inches per second). I went a little faster with the #1 remover.
- I would start left to right, followed by top to bottom
- Removed the residue once it became translucent. #3 remover generates a lot of dust
wanabe - should I continue to work the product until I get dusting? If so, it's possible on the #1 I may have not worked the product long enough. The hazing was very minimal and only appeared on one area.
Here are the videos I followed

The hood is by far in the worst condition... the rest of the car looks nothing like that
