If you gently run your hand across your paint, it may feel a bit bumpy. The clay smooths this out.

Clay is used to remove imbedded and really stuck particles from the surface of your paint. Basically it pulls surface contaminants off the paint. Things such as rail dust metal shavings from your brakes and environmental fallout.

To use, you lubricate the paint surface and rub the clay across the surface of your paint. After you have clayed an area, it will be silky smooth.

wow...that's pretty cool. and this doesn't harm the surrounding paint??

As long as you keep the surface lubed up, it is safe. If you don't use enough lubricant, the clay will stick and scuff the paint.
