I use warm water most of the time that I wash my car, helps to get the dirt and tar off when there is any. Not sure on the effects of stripping the wax but I doubt it. Does anyone have proof that is does?

no problem as long as the paint is not cold and the water hot- if too much of a temp diff, worst case is cracked paint.
you will only melt the wax if the water is too hot too.
again, there is no prob as long as its not too hot and the temp diff is not high.
i wouldnt wash a cold car in hot water!
but if your car has been in a warm garage and you wash it with warm water, should be no problem.

I've washed many vehicles in over the last 15 years with hot water since both my current and last house have/had hot water feeds in the garage. I've never worried about temperature of the car either. I QEW'd my S2000 and Porsche a couple of weeks ago and when I started it was 25 degrees out (cars are garaged but my current garage has no insulation so the cars were just as cold). I never worry about it stripping wax since I use the Klasse twins. Here's a couple of shots.

Yes I know I need to replace the yellowed protective strip.

Take a look at the equipment at this site http://www.northerntool.com/webapp/wcs/sto...MID=osclrp101ln

I have also used hot water to hand wash my cars for years. I like to use carnuba wax and have seen no ill effects from the hot water.

Apparently there is a market for hot water pressure washers from the link above.

Thanks for the replies everyone ... this is a great forum and always helpful. Hot H2O it is then. Actually, this is not an everyday occurence. This option exists at the hospital where we wash the helicopter. Sometimes when we land we ... how shall I put this ... have to clean up more than other times.
