Default How do you clean foam buffer pads?

Bought a Griot's orbital buffer kit from Detailer's Domain and expect to receive it in the next couple of days. I didn't buy any cleaning solution when I placed my order. Can I throw the pads in the washing machine until I buy some cleaning solution? What do you guys recommend?

I've read that machine washing is OK, but don't throw them in the dryer. Just air dry them.

I use the Grit Guard pad washer. The best system I've found to thoroughly clean your pads.

Previously I used to rinse thoroughly, soak in dishwater, rinse thoroughly again, and then air dry.

However, I just picked up some pad cleaning solution that I'll be trying this summer.

The pads I got from Meguiar's are machine washable, but this is not the case for all pads. Best to check with the manufacturer. I soak mine in Dawn dishwashing solution and then throw them into the washing machine.

pads hold soooo much product i wouldnt wash them in the washing machine, that stuff will get stuck to the sides and end up on your clothes. i soak right away in dawn dish soap and then massage the pads to squeeze it out of the pores and repeat until its all out

I use a cleaner from my detail supplier (powder) added to warm water. Then I have a tool which runs across the pad while it is spinning on the buffer.

The instructions for Snappy Clean say one packet per 3-4 gallons of water. Replace solution weekly or more often with heavy use.
