We purchased our S2000 and like you had the same problem, took it back to the dealer who after twp attempts replaced the entire top back window included! No Charge also! After taking back the vehicle we purchased a can of plexiglas cleaner available at the local dealership. Additionally we lay a soft terry towell in the window well to avoid scratches. If Honda had got it right in the first place they would have put a "glass" window in place of this problem one.

others use 3M clear plastic polish, some with Plexus, others use the Meguiars.

The rear window of the S2000 will collect haze or film on both the inside and the outside of the vinyl. The inside film comes from the gassing of the interior plastics just like the other windows of a new car. The outside film comes from exhaust, blowby and other airborne particles.
The Vinyl Window is more difficult to clean than glass windows. Below are products that will help with cleaning of the vinyl window.

Meguiar's Clear Plastic Cleaner #17
Meguiar's Clear Plastic Polish #10
3M Plastic Cleaner, 051131-39017
3M Plastic Polish, 051131-39010
3M Perfect-it III non scratching Detailing Cloth, 051131-06016

The rear window of the S2000 is very easily scratched. A new terry-cloth towel may be soft enough, however a terry-cloth towel that has been used and laundered several times will scratch the window.

The 3M Detailing Cloth is a special weave that captures dirt and film without scratching the window. It is strongly advised to use the 3M cloth when cleaning the rear window with either the 3M products or the Meguiar's products. The 3M products or the Meguiar's products work as a system; use both the cleaner and polish together from one manufacturer.
Any time the outside of the rear window needs to be cleaned, rinse the window with lots of water to remove and loose dust or dirt. With a sweeping-lifting motion, lift off any dirt that remains on the outside surface before applying any cleaner or polish.

To protect the inside of the window from scratching, consider buying the "Muz Mat". Check the Group Buy section.

To protect against creasing, consider the Miata Tube at http://www.allroadster.com

also, regarding the Muz Mat - its definately a great buy - it sits in the well and protects your rear window from scratching against the plastic in the well when it folds down and is collapsed.

Mugen: Part of the problem is the folding of the window against itself. Scratching can be avoided, along with providing a less severe fold, if a towel is placed on top of the back window, inserting it under the top. When the top folds down the towel protects the plexiglass from rubing against itself, and the fold is buffered. I carry a special towel in my trunk. I too learned the hard way.

If you want to make sure that no other dents will appear, always lower the roof while standing in front of the door sill. When the hood is almost half way down poke the rear window so that it folds neatly.

Following advice on this forum I have tracked down and purchased (in the UK) Meguiar's Clear Plastic Cleaner #17 and Meguiar's Clear Plastic Polish #10.

Tonight in my very dark garage I have used these on 1/2 of my window. When daylight comes tomorrow I hope that I will se a difference - I'll let you know.

From my experience don't bother with Maguires #18, combined cleaner / polish. I used it from new and up until last week-end (13 months ownership) I thought my window was beyond redemption as the scratches and general opacity got worse with time and the #18 did nothing to help.

Well I got my Muz mat two weeks ago and thought might as well get some #17 and try it - a miracle occurred. It took three cleans on each surface (inside & out) but the window looked near new.

I then reapplied the #18 as I thought it would protect but lo and behold it was foggy again and the fine scratches were a lot more obvious.

So I have recleaned it with #17 and until I can get some #10 to test it I won't be putting polish on.

Unfortunately I spilled a few drops of the cleaner on the top itself but didn't see it till it had dried. Now I have a white mark like an overpolish mark but I am not sure what will clean it off without damage or leaving a "clean" mark. I have tried car wash but that was obviously too mild as it didn't budge it - any hints.

Col.

Update on my window.

Well I was amazed!!! I would say that the visability is about 50% better on the side I cleaned (notwithsanding the bits I missed). So far I have only used the #17 but at the weekend I will clean the whole window and put on the #10.
