I usually just wash it with regular soap and water (pressure washer). To dry it, I use my big blue Chamois. It gets all the water off, plus any dirt I may have missed.

I've been known to clay mine too and use some Meguiars NXT Metal Polish now and then.

It seems to work well and appears to leave a light "residue" that helps keep water off.

Are you asking about the exhaust tips or other parts of the exhaust system?

when I used to care about how my exhaust tips looked, I would just apply some cleaner wax and then polish it off. always seemed to do the trick

I find just washing it every time i wash the car to play a huge role. When the exhaust and carbon build up sits for a long time it stains. Every once in a while i use a metal polish as well then it REALLY shines.

Regarding the OEM exhaust tips--I have assumed that they are chrome and so have been using a chrome polish on them. Are they in fact chrome? TIA.

I wash mine with soap and water everytime I wash my car. I have to though since my test pipe turns them gold within a weeks time.
I used Eagle One Mag and aluminum polish on them when I do a full detail on the car.

Eagle One Neverdull on the OE tips is what I'm using. Simple and effective
