Here are some ideas for those rubber pieces you speak of MegaTRon.

My favorite: Shin-Etsu grease. The least expensive= 303 Protectant. More expensive, but probably not better than Shin-Etsu, 1Z Einszett Rubber Care Stick “Gummi Pflege”.

With whatever you use make sure it doesn'r degrade the rubber and always clean the rubber parts first before applying the protectant. While I cannot say it extends the life of the rubber pieces, treating them is part of my detailing regimen for the underside/suspension/engine bay.

do you clean the rubber bushings first with soap + water and a brush, rinse with water and allow to dry then apply the shin-etsu grease?

Yes, but a i use an All Purpose cleaner to remove any dirt, etc. A good wash soap will work equally well, then use some paper towels to dry and apply your Shin-Etsu. Two light coats are better than a heavy coat.
