Curious, what do you guys do with your used clay piece?

if it's not that contaminated, do you put it in a ziplock bag for use next time or is it automatically throw away?
I like to buy clay that comes in a plastic container. This way I can just put the clay back in the case it came in. Usually when you are buying just clay (as opposed to a clay kit with QD, etc) this is how it comes packaged.

Since I only do mine once a year I give my used clay to a less anal friend and spend another $10 for the clay/spray detailer kit the following year.

It takes out all the contaminants in the paint. If you look at your car closely, you will see black speckles all over (usually more on the body panels directly behind the tires, and the bumpers)....

When you clay, your car will feel like a brand new sheet of glass.

I clay it when it needs it. You can feel when it needs it. If the car is as smooth as glass, no sense wasting the time in my opinion. Some areas need it more frequently than others, like as said, the areas behind the wheels that get alot of tar kick up.

My car is not the daily driver... but the whole car get's clayed once a month. However I do the front bumper around the wheels and the lower sections(rocker panels) around the every time I wash it because those areas always have junk on them. But its only on the road half the year, and its garage kept.

How often you clay can only be determined by you. If you live in the city and drive the highway a lot, there's a good chance you'll need to do it more often. If you live in the country and don't hit the highways that much you can do it less.

My car is a daily driver in a place with alot of fall out and dust. I try and clay it every other time i wash. That way less fallout gets trapped and its easier to remove since they dont seem to be as fixed into the paint. If i were to let it sit for months then its harder to remove.

I'd love to clay every 3 months, but my schedule doesn't permit much freedom.

I do however wash the car bi-weekly, polish and wax every 6-8 weeks, and clay annually.
