Default How to remove gum from pedals and carpet?

Somehow I got gum on my shoes and messed up the gas/brake pedals as well as the floor mat.
Does anyone know of good cleaning solution?

Try lighter fluid ( like Zippo ) on a clean rag and rub, it will dissolve the gum. Lighter fluid is like a dry cleaning agent, it is a naphtha based product and evaporates very fast. And don't smoke when you use it !

You might want to try goo-gone as well. In fact, goo-gone is advertised for being able to fix gum problems... even helps remove gum from hair!

Before you try chemicals, put some ice cubes on the gum. If the gum is not 'ground' into the carpet, it should be easy to remove once frozen. If it is on a hardsurface (i.e., not carpet), you can also try peanut butter.

I have tried both of these solutions on gum caught in my nieces hair and they both work wonders.

Ice is a great first choice. There are several products at auto parts stores like goo-gone, etc.
