Default How to safely remove swirls

I used 3M Rubbing compound over the summer, did a great job, however the swirls are back and I am little hesitant to use the very abrasive rubbing compound, what do you guys think is the safest/best way to remove swirls.....Summer is coming and its time to start detailing

Throw the can of rubbing compound in the trash.

Get a random orbital machine, some pads a few polishes a decent LSP and go to work.

very surprised that your rubbing compound didnt haze the car-

first step in removing swirls is lotsa reading. then, as ubetit said, you need a machine.

if you have been hangin out here you would know that one of my most popular suggestions for learning the machine is to post up in your local forum that you will supply products (if they tell you what to get- or you find out here), and refreshments if someone will supply the machine and know how...

did you maybe mean you used the 3m swirl mark remover??

[QUOTE=JoeyBalls,Mar 3 2008, 12:17 PM]

Also I bought a 3M glaze, when do I apply this, is it

1.Polish
2.wax
3.Glaze?

On the back it also says, "This product safely & effectively removes grade 1500 or finer sanding scratches, medium oxidation, coarse swirl marks or water marks, and leaves a fine finish"

Nah, its 3m "rubbing compound", on the front it says, "Removes scratches, swirl marks and water spots, clearcoat safe" It works really really well.

I thought it was polish, glaze and then wax.
