Don't feel bad. Hey, I been driving a stick for twenty years, and yesterday I parked my car, took my foot of the clutch while it was still in gear and engine still running. I just forgot to turn the car off. My car lurched forward and it nearly hit a brick wall. Got lucky, no damage. Shouldn't hurt you clutch.

I did that once on a motorcyle. Nice wheelie.

No dent at all....just the black rubber that's rubbed off the bumper of the truck.

Not sure how imbedded this scuff is however.

I'll definitely post this in the wash forum.
Someone hit me in a parking lot and left a similar mark... Clay bar took it off no problemo.

I wouldn't worry about it. The car is fine, the bumper is probably also fine. You may just need to buff out some light scratches or scrapes, and it'll be good as new.

Oh, and don't feel bad. I once almost launched my dad's pickup truck into our swimming pool while learning how to drive stick. Granted, I was only 10, but still...

Use a Mother's Claybar to get anything off of the bumper.

#2. you weren't FULLY in the gear, hence the grinding. and fortunately, it popped out of gear and you did not power into the truck.

That's why pencils have erasers.............we make mistakes!

I posted this in S2k Talk earlier.....

I just need some wash and wax expertise now.

As a caveat, I've been driving a manual transmission for 6 years....so hardly a newbie....but I had an extremely newbie mishap this morning.

It was early and my brain had not completely woken up yet.....but it felt no different than any other day. I hop into my S depress the clutch pedal and start up the car.....THEN I proceed to release the clutch pedal WHILE THE CAR IS STILL IN FIRST GEAR!

First off....I don't know why I did this.....and second, I always have the e-brake on just in case, but for some reason, it wasn't engaged!

So my S makes this deafening grinding sound as it jolts forward right into the large truck parked in front of me. The weird thing is, the S doesn't stall and just keeps on running.

The only good thing is that this large truck parked in front of me had those huge rubber like back bumpers so no damage to his vehicle.......BUT now I have this 12 inch long black bruise on my white bumper (right under the H emblem).

Question:

1. How can I get this black rubber bruise off my bumper?

Thanks for reading and your insights are appreciated.

One very embarrassed S owner.....

Meguire's clear coat body scrub or claybar will both do the job perfectly.
