Maintaining Rubber
Just want to share some info... Today I applied a silicone grease product to all of the rubber seals on the S. Even though I have an 05, I could see and feel a difference in the rubber. I suggest doing this for ensuring lasting rubber seals. FYI: the product was BMW silicone grease that my local Honda dealer uses, cost; $15 per tube, estimated 10+ applications per tube, recommendation: apply every few months.

another good choice is shin-etsu grease.
my recollection is thats what the shop manual suggests, but the main thing is to do something to keep the rubber soft and not cracking-

shin etsu is good, messy but the recommended grease by honda.
Its kind of annoying to apply, then again applying anything greasy is not fun.
Wanabe, how often is it recommended to apply the grease, I have not done mine in about 6 to 8 months?

When I was at my local dealership, Pompano Honda, located in South Florida, Shin-Etsu grease is what I originally wanted to purchase. Well, they had a tube of Shin-Etsu that was on the shelf for 6 years. They said that the BMW silicone grease was of higher quality and as a whole, the dealership has steered away from Shin-Etsu. I was leary at first, but after using the BMW product, it was NOT messy at all and seemed like a quality product. Granted, as with many of you, I am not one to take what a "dealership" says at face value, but this dealership is one of the better ones.

The product name: "Original BMW" "Gummi-Pfledge" "Rubber care". It comes in a 75ml light green tube and has both English and German writing on it along with the BMW blue/white logo.

what about hi-temp urea grease? my dealer said they are using urea instead of silicone grease. true? or bs? what do you think
its used by them in the tranny, but dont know about on rubber!
