These are abolutely the best towels I've used for polish/wax/sealant buffing and QD'ing . . .

These are the softest WW's I've ever seen and I use them for drying (only need one really and they're on sale big time right now) . . .

I also have a package of cheap MFs from a local wholesale club (25 towels for $10). I use them for interior work and various dirty jobs but never on paint. I also have some other random towels like the ones I use on glass . . .

Thanks for the links. So those first towels are good for removal, correct? I think I am going to try the Sonus applicator pads for applying wax and polish.

How many towels would I need to remove a coat of wax from my S?

With Black I like going carefully so I have about 12 on hand just in case they load up.

You use 12 just for removing wax or for a full detail?

Always good to have a couple extra on hand BTW in case you drop one on the ground.

12 usually covers me for a full detail. That's overkill but heck it's better than running out in the middle of the job. I'm sure you could get away with 1/3 less.

I can testify to the quality of the Cobra products mikeyC linked to above. I ordered the combo pack from them and after the discount that was running at the time, paid less than $80 for a butt load of good towels.

The combo pack looked like a good deal. I am going to give these a try along with Poorboy wax and polish (as they claim you can use them in sunlight and I dont have access to a full day of shade). I'll report back on how it all works out. Thanks everyone.

For a full detail I think that's a reasonable amount of towels to have on hand. I was only shocked when I thought you were talking about a wash & wax.

Yeah....with Berlina it seems you gotta be conservative as hell as the paint seems to be soft and shows the slightest defect. On the other hand the white Explorer is tough and I use cotton towels without incident. It's amazing the difference between the two. For me, once i figured out how tough the paint was going to be, scratch wise, then it's was easy to determine how many MF's I needed.

White I find shows almost nothing. You really have to get some high powered lights to see the cobwebbing. Even then, you could spend the whole day polishing it and you wouldn't see a huge difference. I'll never buy a white car again.
