man that exhaust gets messed up underneath!
looks like my boots are hitting the bottom of the exhaust and leaving black marks all over...
and not easy to clean off- tried tar remover, wd-40 and metal cleaners. none was easy to use and fool proof... each got some marks but not all.
anyone got hints on getting the black marks off of the bottom of the chrome exhausts??

starting checking out other bikes and this is a common problem...
bikes with chrome exhausts almost always have black marks under- gotta be boot black!!
and really hard to remove- must be the heat burns it on.
since no one here knows how to fix this, i will go searching- and will only report back if i get an answer!!
---------
this guy says you gotta soak the gunk overnight... havent tried that yet. have tried wd-40 and some of his other suggestions- so overnight will be my next step- check out his thoughts:

Try using an eraser (be careful some are abrasive) or the rubber sole from an old boot/shoe on those black marks.
Simple Green works well for grime (and it's eco-friendly).

i got the marks out with the pc and a paint cleaner (light polish- with a slightly aggressive pad)... amazing what a pia they were- really had to work the product. guessing that the heat had cured them and caused a stain.
will try your ideas next time- thx!!
