Default Need some helping figuring out polishes.

Spring is coming and it's time to replenish my stock. There has been a lot of new products out since I really last did any detailing. Where I am really curious is the polishes, sealants etc. I've been reading a lot of threads, but there is just so much new stuff now.

For my detailing, it'll be just our 3 cars, and probably helping our with some friends/family. So I don't really want to buy stuff just to buy it.

My Accord and s2k has some pretty good swirls, but in general the paint is in pretty good condition. My wife's Outback is a 2010, but hasn't really been treated yet. Minor swirls, and could use a good once over.

So I don't think I really need anything super heavy in cutting. There is just so many options out there right now, I'm a bit lost. So I am coming to my trusty website and asking for some help.

I would like to have something that covers all of the steps...polish, compound, sealant, wax, etc. I know a lot of people use the PO85RD. But I keep seeing the einszett ones coming up too.

Another question I have is do you think it is good to have both 4" and 5.5" pads? I would imagine that the 4" ones make it easier in the tighter and small areas, but would take too long to do an entire car. I'm not opposed to getting both, but again I don't want to buy stuff just to say I have it.

I appreciate everyone's help. This is always my first stop when I have questions.

Hey there,

You might want to check out our Wash n Wax sponser Detailersdomaine. I've gotten many products from them and their customer service is top notch and the prices are great I'd suggest looking at the Menzerna line. I assume you have a PC or something since you are talking about different pads sizes. I personally use 6.5" and I have heard that 5.5" and 6.5" pads are the most popular for bigger panels. 4" pads would be used for the harder to reach or smaller surface areas. Hope this helps

Thanks! Yah, I will for sure go through DD. I've bought a lot of stuff from Phil. My biggest area of in-expertise is in the different polishes. I've always been a bit confused in this aspect of detailing. So I'd hate to buy a product just because I 'think' that I need it.
