New Paint & Clear Bra
Folks - my car is ~1 year old, and despite not being a daily driver, has a little read rash on the front end from rocks etc getting kicked up off the road. I REALLY should have put a 3M clear bra on it the day I took deliver - but apparently I'm not that smart.
So now one year on - I'd really like to get one installed, but guess that it would look like crap over the road rash. My thinking is that I'll get the bumper repainted completely (that is where most of the rash is), and have the rest touched up (about 4 small spots).
I've got a few questions about this process:
1. Should I leave the paint to cure for a while before installing the clear bra? Body shops I've talked to say no because they include curing additives in the paint/clear coat. I get different answers on this from bra installers some want 30 days, some say zero.
2. Should I apply a coat or two of zaino to the new paint before getting the bra installed?
3. Anything I should look out for at the body shop doing the paint work? I was going to have them take the bumper and OEM lip off the car to paint it (I'm told that will result in a better job).
4. Anything I should look out for at the shop installing the bra?
Thanks in advance........
