I agree with MikeyC. I never took my car to the dealer for anything I could fix myself. Too many shoddy repairs, damaged cars and joy riding a-holes to be worried about at the dealership. Only way I'de go to the dealer is if something major breaks and I have no choice. I even go as far as doing all scheduled maintenance myself. Just get a Helm manual and some time and your all set.

If the hair dryer method works, which it should, why bother leaving your car with someone all day when you can fix the problem in 5 minutes? Just my .02

Unfortunately it's something you'll have to live with. The seats will wear, especially if you drive the car often. Clean and condition the seats every 3 weeks or so to slow down the wearing. You can also get seat covers made of sheepskin or something else that's soft if you don't mind changing the appearance of the seats.

Another little bit of advice that I do myself.... every time you get out of the car, massage the dent in circles with your hand and it should dissipate a little more. Works for me and it does help a little.

Something is stretching just that area. Remove whatever is causing that.

EDIT: I see it is your wallet. I though it might be your knee or hand when getting in and out.

You can easily get rid of this problem that has occurred although subsequent re-occurance if very possible unless you figure out what it is digging into the area. If it is just the way you sit, then don't worry about it, the leather needs to break in and then you'll probably be alright.

In order to shrink it back to normal you need heat, like a hot heat gun heat. This is very tricky as you can easily ruin the seat, so go with Mike's suggestion of the hair dryer, this will make sure you don't do anything detrimental to the leather.

If you want to go even further, take a little spray bottle and fill it with some water, shoot it onto the leather and then dry it. You don't want to saturate the leather, but if gets good and wet, the heat will make it shrink even quicker and more overall that if done dry.

The funny thing about leather is that it will stretch in only 1 direction either vertical or horizontal depending on how it is being held. I believe it stretches along the belly of the cow and not front head to tail. This being said, they could have upholstered it the way that stretches from right to left on the seat, thus it stretched when you sat on it and left the mark there. While this is not certain, it could be possible.

On a dealership note, on my 2002 I had the driver side bolster down to nothing and they replaced the foam at no charge, while this is not really a foam issue, they can be really helpful in replacing the pieces if necessary so you may want to have them check it out and see what they say, who knows you may get a new seat cover.

If you want more advice just let me know.

Sure do. It may not be a proven technique but I actually see the seat get a little better with my own eyes, and that's enough to tell me it works.

It's not like you have to sit there for 5 minutes doing this, I have found on my sofa at home that after I get up I just level out the leather and it looks perfect. Just a quick swipe of the hand over the surface and you are good, takes half a second.
