nu finish stuff
i went to the local autozone to look for waxes and polishes and stumbled onto nu finish.. If nu finish sounds like the ultimate polish since it shines the car like new and it lasts for a year hence the once a year polish phrase then why dont we ALL get nu finish instead of getting the other stuff which seems inferior to this stuff.. or am i being to questionable and analyical
It's all advertising and sales hype. It's up to you, the consumer, to pick through all that crap and decide, based on your own intelligence and testamonials from others, which one you want to believe and choose.
You don't actually think a product will market itself by labelling it's goods:
"Good Enough, Mediocre, Fair Results, Average or This Will Suffice"?

The only decent stuff (IMHO) you'll find at your local car shop is the Zymol cleaner/wax. I use that from time-to-time on the ol' Pathfinder. Consumer Reports gave them the #1 rating in their comparison of "store-brand" waxes.
Guru Reports did a comparison of waxes and Nu Finish didn't do nearly as well as most. If you want a copy, PM me and I can get you one for $10 including shipping (cover price is $20). Unfortunately, Guru did not include the Zymol cleaner/wax in their ratings., #!@$!@!

i used nu finish on one of my cars several years ago... its good for removing bug stuff on the front of the car and does leave a decent finish-
but it has no where near the depth, shine, or overall look of finish first, zaino or carnuba.

The guru's in their wax report didn't think much of Nu Finish. They ranked it 17th out of 46 waxes. It stopped beading water after 6 weeks. They also mentioned that it had a very strong cleaner in it and were concerned about that.
which is funny because three years ago Nu-finish was ranked #1 by consumer reports
in any event the shine and depth of Nu-finish does not come close to Zaino plus i beleive NF contains some abraisve (sp) material as you can see the color of the paint bleed off into your rag

There are 3 tricks to using Nu Finish. 1) Have a clean, dry surface (as with any wax, polish). 2) "Cover" with Nu Finish, do NOT rub. 3) Let Nu Finish DRY completely (like leave it for 1/2 hour). If you rub it in thinking you'll get a better shine .. . nope. If you don't let it dry completely it's difficult to remove and doesn't provide the protection it should. I believe the product instructions are incomplete but I've found the product to do what it state (i.e. as Consumer Reports states). Carnauba etc. gives a better "wet look". Nu Finish stands up to everything (including sun) better than anything else I've used.
I tried the nu finish stuff on my brothers red '91 celica GT-S. I wasn't about to attempt using the shit on my S2000.
It was easy to apply on the Celica. You can buff it off pretty much right after you apply it. However, the results were pretty unspectacular. I mean, it cleaned up his car nicely, and the water beads up on it.... but it doesn't have the shine.
