Default Oribital buffer machine thing

I'm thinking of finally buying one of those orbital buffer machine things. Is it really true that they leave swirl marks? I just get way way way too tired putting like 4 coats of MEguiars gold class on the car, even though the car is small.

Anybody use one?

Why don't you try Zaino at http://www.zainobros.com before you buy a buffer? You won't regret it!

you should not have problems with swirl marks if you use a random orbital and use it properly (dont push down on it and use the correct pads)... the porter cable (if you do a search you should find my post of where you can get the machine for less than $100) is a random orbital.
i even used my porter cable to remove the swirls on my daughter's black car this weekend- made a '93 black car look new again!

what kind should I buy? I noticed there's Meguiar's special buffer, which I've seen used in detail shops, and the circular looking ones I've seen at like Kragen. Also, there are different kinds of buffers out there, what's the difference?

Go to your local hardware store and get a Porter Cable 6" random orbital buffer (with a hook and loop pad). Other buffers that are a lot cheaper won't last long. If they only sell the 6" sander, get it, you can buy the hook and loop pad on the web (I did). Then get the orange foam polishing pads from Griot's Garage here: http://www.griotsgarage.com/catalog.jsp?SK...SKUupsell=10626

But, I still say before you spend all that money on a buffer, try Zaino! The stuff is so easy to apply and take off, you wouldn't even consider a buffer (unless you want to get scratches out of the paint).

the porter cable (if you do a search you should find my post of where you can get the machine for less than $100) is a random orbital. porter cable is the manufacturer... the machine is actually a sander or polisher. it is pretty much the standard by which all other machines are measured, as it does the job exactly right- and has plenty of speeds (i almost always use the slowest setting).
again, you want a random orbital, not just a regular orbital- the random orbital does not only go in circles.

I bought the entire kit from GriotsGarage and love it. It did wonders and removed all my swirl marks with minimal effort. I also did my wifes 3 year old black car which resulted in the blue metallic flakes showing again. I will never go back to hand waxing again.....

So, Zaino is that easy? Just apply and rub off? No pain?

What Zaino's should I use? My paint is good, I waxed with Mequiars Gold Class, a good wax, but doesn't last long, every few months. I put like 3-4 coats every time I do though.
