Default P21s kit

Ok, so today after work I plan on washing and waxing my car. I figure first NXT then top it off with P21. I ordered the P21's kit and it comes with some paint cleaner (forgot exactly what called since it's at the house). My question is, what are your thought on this? Should I use it for this job? The car is pretty clean since it's my baby and only comes out on nice days, but till tonight I haven't had time to properly wax it in months.

If you haven't waxed your car in a few months then there's likely some oxidation on the paint. The paint will oxidize simply from exposure to air. So, how much you drive it is not a factor. I would start with the Paint Cleanser and then put on the NXT and then top with the P21S.

Honestly though, I think I would skip the NXT. It's not very durable and wouldn't add that much more protection than just P21S IMO. Also, IMO the NXT under the P21S would not look as good as just P21S on the paint. Plus, you'll have to wait 12-24 after you apply NXT to apply the P21S to make sure the NXT is cured.

wow, mikeyc got my thoughts right on!

my first step is always an inspection- wash and inspect again... if it needs to be clayed, this is the time to find that out.
i too would skip the nxt and would prob double coat the p21s. if you do this, let the first coat cure- a couple hours will do it, or overnight is best.

nxt's weakness is that it does not last long... neither does a carnuba. i think that the only thing that i can think of that nxt would add would be maybe some paint cleaning properties- but the p21s cleaner will do that too.

And if you're using GEPC (P21S's Gloss Enhancing Paintwork Cleanser), it is rich with oils and fillers so I think it would be best to top that directly with P21S for a clear and wet look. The NXT likely won't bond very well over the GEPC.

Thanks guys the car came out beautiful. I follwed your advice and went with the paint cleaner than a coat of P21's. This wax is great easy on easy off.
