meguiars paint restoration
I bought this from walmart and will using it with porter cable 7424xp http://www.amazon.com/Meguiars-Brill.../dp/B004EB12FS also i would be using this PAD to for the compound http://www.ebay.com/itm/110771702662...84.m1438.l2648
my question is will the paint restoration kit be too hard on the paint? Or is it fine?
As far as I have owned the car I have never did any kind wax or polish besides the regular once a week wash. I dont know what the original owner did, But I do see alot of fine scratches, swirls, and water spots.
THANKS!

you should be fine with the orange pad + ultimate compound .. but you should finish it with like a black pad and a finishing polish before adding a sealant/wax

I second jwr's suggestion that you follow up Ultimate Compound with a finishing polish. You need a polish to remove any marring left behind by UC. Meguiar's has made Ultimate Polish precisely for this purpose. It's available at most local auto stores. BTW, you probably should have at least two pads for each product.
Please be sure to do a test spot before compounding the entire car. You want to make sure that you are using the product properly. Our paint is known for its softness. In fact, you might first want to use Ultimate Polish first on your test spot to see if it effects the level of correction that you want. That's another reason why you need a couple of pads. You might want to first try UP with the orange pad and see how good it makes the paint look.
