Paint Gauge
I noticed in a recent post that FMINUS was taking readings with his Defelsko DFT paint gauge.
I understand that if buying a used car, you might be able to determine if the car was in an accident and repainted (at least I've read that).
However, from a detailing perspective, what use is the data and what might might be a corrective action if one reading is 104 vs 122 (as shown in FMINUS's post).
Can anyone shed some light on this topic?

it can also tell whether paint is too thin in an area-
and if you can tell that a repair has been done, you might need to focus polishing in that spot.
more info is here:

good question the paint meter can give you a accurate measurement of how much paint is on the car.
If I'm right there are usually x microns of clear, x microns of base , and then primer. ( I have to find the typical numbers)
from there you can tell how much paint you can remove and how much you have taken off.
you can correct paint all so much before the clear is gone and you have burned thru the paint.
