Thumbs up Paint Thickness Gauges

Afternoon all ( well it is in sunny England!)

I have been do some research into purchasing a paint thickness gauge and I am looking for advice form other wash and wax wackos.

I am not a professional as such just hobbyist / side line and I realise that PTG's should not be taken as red but as a guide to help you understand where you are starting from.
I know that I should select one that does ferrous and Non ferrous metals but what about carbon fibre and plastic?? I realise that the more it can do the more
