paint peeling off
I bought a used '01 silverstone and I just noticed that some of the paint are peeling off, mostly on top of the trunk and some on the hood.
what causes this to happen and how should I treat it?
Is it possible to ask the dealer to repaint it under warranty?

i suggest having an owner in your area take a look at it...
is it down to the metal?
is it really paint, or clear coat?
certainly does not sound right to me.
i would take it to the dealer - as long as you trust your dealer! (they will probably send it to a body shop)

Perhaps the car had some inferior paint work done before you bought it. You may want to look for signs of overspray in the inner fender and decklid area to see if you can figure out if you are dealing with factory paint or a respray.

A: Sounds like sun fade and/or the exterior was never protected either by wax or Zaino, etc. That's too bad.

A: Read your warranty very carefully and look for this specific problem. If it's not on the warranty, or if it's located in the "parts not covered" section, then you're on your own. This could fall under "acts of negligence" from the previous owner and the warranty could be "as is."

Well, if you've already checked the warranty and it's not covered, then it's time to repaint the car and oh, bring your wallet. Touch up paint isn't gonna do the trick. Kinda depends on how much you are willing to invest. I probably wouldn't say this but for the fact that the issues are on the hood and the top trunk, well- these are major areas- so I would do the whole car if it were me.
Be ready to fork out some serious cash if you want a superior paint job. Start with $3000 (minimum) and work your way up the paint ladder. If the paint isn't important, you can get lower quality paint and protection for way less than $3000. Get some quotes from referred body shops, perhaps use the paint code from Honda if you want the same color.
