Default PlasticX Too Harsh?

Plastic X seems to be causing holograms and swirls on my gauges or rear lights. Fronts not so much, I am guessing because plastic is harder. Meguiar's Cleaner Wax made my gauges like new where plastic X messed it all up.

Should I stay away from plastic X?

exactly what i was gonna ask.
good chance that the imperfections are a result of technique

You're probably getting good results with the cleaner wax because it's loaded with fillers.

Plush Microfiber applicator pad up and down plus circular motion with light to no pressure. Don't think my technique has much to do with it

PlastX from what i remember is light compared to some of the other cleaners out there. Im not sure about the up and down motion, but the circular with light pressure should be just fine.

When you refer to the "gauge", do you mean the gauge cluster(speedo, tach, etc.)? I've applied PlastX to my gauge cluster cover and it actually took some type of layer off of the cover. Left tons of swirls. Big mistake. I was able to polish most of it out with NXT.

I stay away from it. It works only on some plastics

Wow, thanks for sharing. I was about to use some PlastX on my cluster later this week.

^ recommends PlastX for the cluster.
