Please help remove black spec from my silverstone
hi guys, iam so mad I got a band new 07 silverstone and i got some small hard black spec all over the car. i have try clay bar, bug N tar remover but doesn't work, i can get it off with my finger nail but it takes more than one tries. any help would be great. thanks
If you can get it with your finger nail then clay should do the trick. Use lots of lube (
) and some extra pressure but clay should get that stuff off the surface (that's the point of clay to begin with).

when i use alot of lube, the clay doesnt take it off, but if i dont use any lube it takes off some. do u think after the clear coat was put on, this black spec dried with the clear coat?
I've had little black specs of road tar sling up on my rear bumper before. They are stubborn little particles and they are hard to remove but with some clay, a little pressure, and some patience you should be able to remove this stuff. Since clay is designed to glide on top of the surface of your paint it won't work for specs and other debris embedded in your clear coat. It will only remove contaminants on top of the clear coat.
if autoglym tar remover doesnt get it then-
how bout wd-40, or even gasoline... (try wd-40 first)
gotta be very careful- put some on a rag and test a small area first- if it works then go for it. also gotta be careful cause you can easily swirl the paint with the rag that you use for this- change places on the rag often and change rags often.
dont get the wd-40 or gas on any parts other than the paint... they are both good at removing adhesives!
after, rewash and rewax the car

Do you park near mulch or other decaying wood/leaves/etc?
It sounds like it might be artillery fungus (also called shotgun fungus). If you don't get it right away, it's impossible to get off. Basically it shoots its spores something like up to 20 feet.
If they're hard and not road tar, that may be what they are.
If you can polish the car after claying with MINIMAL lube that might be an option (assuming no solvents work).
Good luck with it.

damn i was reading about that fungus today (im in land use and development industry). from what i read its more of an issue for home siding and such, but i can see how it could mess up a car as well.
good luck. get some pics and im sure everyone will be able to help you better

i dont park near mulch or other decaying wood/leaves, i park right beside my sister lexus, but she doesn't have anything like i got. and at home its in the garage. i think it's been like this from day one bringing it home from the dealer. i remeber washing it the first time, the paint felt rough so i thought it was just dirty but after the wash it felt the same. i dont know if it would show up on camera but i will try.
