Default porter cable

hi im going to buy a porter cable now and decided to buy it from http://www.sportscarcare.com/scc/pro...ItemID=pc-7424 . and all i need is the pads right? where can i get a good deal on all the pads i need? also what will i need to get rid of swirls. if i get something that gets rid of swirls isnt it the same thing as getting like a paint cleanser or something. dont you cut the clearcoat a little when using either swirl removers or paint cleansers/intensive polish/ final polish , etc?

for swirls i used Meg dual action cleaner polish - this will cut all the fine swirls. I used a yellow pad but if your swirls are deep you might need a more abrasive pad - PLEASE NOTE - always use a least abrasive pad first!! Meg

I have the Porter Cable 7424 and love it. There is also the dewalt and a funny handled Makita. Be sure you get the velcro backing or you simply won't be able to do anything.

I use dedicated orange lake country pads 6.5' for all my compounding and swirl removal. I buy them all from a cdn supplier online http://www.eshine.ca but you can go to http://www.properautocare.com as well.

Get a good test car and go to it. Read up on it with the sticky's atop

For swirl removal i use a combo of Poorboys SSR3.5 (scratches) to 2.5 (swirls) to 1.0 (mild swirls) to Meg's DACP depending on the finish.

You are reducing the clearcoat, as Honda's are notoriously thin, but there is only worry if you swirl remove /compound work every week, for something like 3-4 years straight. (too excessive)

good ideas above- especially the idea to use a test car before doing yours (how about the wife or gf!)

to answer your q about paint cleaners- most are also swirl removers... read the label and it will tell you. i just used a paint cleaner on an old van recently- its paint was pretty good, but lacked luster and had some minor swirls. i think i used medallion paint cleaner by meguiars for that job. did a great job. wouldnt be a good choice for heavier swirls- for that you need a real swirl remover, imo.

i like the properautocare pads posted above...
kinda hard to find- lotsa info on their site- more specific link:

and autopia's pads:
