Default Porter Cable 7401

Can I get this instead of a pc 7336 or 7424? What is the difference? Only thing I see is the 7inch pad rather than the 7336 or 7424 6inch pad

I did my research before buying a 7336. The machine has a counterweight inside. The counterweight has the match the size of the pad. A 6-inch pad needs a different counterweight than a 7-inch pad, and most of the stuff you're going to find will be 6-inch, so I'd recommend you stick with the 7336/7424.

The 7401 is a rotary buffer. The 7424 and 7336SP are orbital a/k/a dual action polishers. Rotaries and orbitals are totally different types of machines. Rotaries require a lot of practice and can burn through your paint right down to the metal in a blink. Orbital polishers are much safer and easier to learn to use.

Basically, I'm saying I don't recommend you buy a 7401. If price is the issue just keep saving and get the 7424 or 7336.
