Thumbs up questions about wetsanding?

I bought 3m sandpaper for wetsanding. 1000, 1500, 2000 grit papers.

what would I use behind the sandpaper to apply flat, even pressure.

I would do it with my hand, but then the results would be uneven, because the hand isn't flat.

Also, how much pressure, if any do I need to use? or just enough to keep the sandpaper down, and let it do the rest?

I know I need to soak the paper 1st, but for how long? and do I need to keep spraying water or some kind of mixture during the sanding process?

Any help/info/tips/tricks would be greatly appreciated.

Here is a great place to start. At least read through this. He has a lot of great information that will help.

It doesn't deal directly with HOW TO wet sand, but it is still a good read and may add some info that you can use.
