Is RainX worth it?
The biggest reason wipers bounce across the windshield is that the wiper leans on it's side all day long when you're not driving. Then when you turn the wipers on, they bounce going up the window because the rubber has taken a set toward the way you leave the wipers parked. If you can remember to do so, once in a while lean your wipers the other way on purpose.

If you happen to be using Zaino, get the glass squeaky clean and then apply a coat of polish to the glass. Not only will you get the "RainX effect", but you will find that bug removal is a snap. Shoot a little Z-6 on the glass, wipe with a cotton towel, and the bugs are gone.
I use it on my daily driver. Works great at shedding water.
Used it once on the S2000. The windows are harder to clean and not as clear with it on. Also seems to be more abrasive on the wiper blades. Glass gets a black rubber build up near the end of the wiper stroke.

I'm curious: I can see the advantages of RainX on a heavy downpour, because you are definitely going to have your top up. But what about when it's just a little sprinkle that you would otherwise tolerate while driving with the top down. Wouldn't RainX cause the little sprinkles to run up the windshield and get blown into your face, when without it the drops would just stick to the windshield and not bother you unless you hit the wipers?
It's been stated that the windshield is prone to "pitting" from a "sandblasting effect" caused by particle collision. Is it possible that this type of degradation can be arrested to some (worthwhile) degree by using a product like Rain-X as a buffer?
WOW! So many myths about Rain-X.
It will yellow the windshield. Phoey! Just because the bottle is yellow, doesn't mean it was turned that way by the liquid inside.
Rain-X makes your windshield wipers skip. No, not really. It does change the coefficient of friction, and will therefore change the harmonic frequency at which the wipers are prone to bounce, which may seem like it causes it. I've actually seen Rain-X make noisy wipers go away.
Waxing your windows is the same as Rain-X. I pity someone who tries this, especially on an older window!
Rain-X leaves your window hazy (dude, read the instructions!)
Rain-X will protect your windshield from rocks and such. No... just like wax won't protect your pain from rock chips.
Rain-X is made so you don't have to use your wipers. You won't see Rain-X publishing that! But you can use it on the side windows and mirrors, and on a GLASS back window to help you see where you don't have wipers.
Rain-X is good for everyone. No, if a person has poor night vision or cataracts, the street light sparkles magnified through the droplets can make driving worse at night. Think about this before you hook your grandmother up with the stuff!
I love Rain-X, but the only time I don't use it on one of my cars is if I get a stone chip in the windshield that needs repair. If you Rain-X the windshield, I've heard from a repair shop that you can diminish the holding power of the epoxy, or whatever they use.

I simply us it on the side and driving mirrors every 2 months and a coat on the front every 1 month. As for the windshild wipers why restore when you can replce, even walmart has decent wipers that can be used on the S.
