Default Recommend Next Step - Should I Polish Again

My car had a decent amount of fine swirls in the paint and I bought some products to do a detail on it this spring. I have a Porter cable but I am only just getting used to operating it, I think I did a decent job my first time out. I am pretty comfortable with it now, here is my question.

I just did the hood of the car this weekend as a test to see how well I can operate the PC with the products I have. I would say 98 percent of the swirls are now gone after the first pass, there are some small fine lines still on the hood but I`d say very few. I used Menzerna Micro Polish with an orange LC pad on my PC, using proper pressure and making sure I got the correct number of passess over all areas. There is no hazing of any sorts, just a very few lines left and they no longer look like circular swirls, just small straight lines every so often, very short in length. I am going to seal the paint with Menzerna Powerlock once the polishing is done.

Should I try doing a second light polish with a white pad before moving on to seal it with Powerloc, or try a second light polish with the orange pad again. Honestly it is a whole lot better than it was, it looks pretty good to me. Maybe it isn`t worth trying to get every little line out of it on an 8 year old car. Last fall the car was clayed and I put on a few coats of Liquid Glass, I dont think the car was ever polished from what I could tell. I washed the hood and sprayed it down with rubbing alcohol and water solution prior to polishing.

I`d appreciate any opinions on this, thanks very much for any replies.

Hey Joey, I'd say going over it with the white pad, it should clean up whatever little swirls you have left. post some pics once you get her all polished up. cheers

Thanks for the tip bud !, yeah I can try doing one more pass with a white foam pad, I could use the extra practice with the machine anyhow, lol. It might be a while before I can post pics as I need to do a full wash of the car before I can move onto other panels. Just washing the hood was creating snow and ice in my garage the other day, we need some warm weather desperately in our area.

Thanks for the reply, keep in touch as the driving season approaches.

Orange = Light Cutting Pad
White = Polishing
