did you wash both inside and out?
a detailers trick to help you figure out whether the glass is dirty on the inside or out:
wash the inside top to bottom and outside side to side.
then when you see dirty glass, you will know whether its outside or inside!

I hate Windex.

Try Stoner's Invisible Glass or some like product. Use a microfiber towel to clean your glass if you are not doing so as well.

Never had a problem with a product for cleaning, only the media w/ which it's applied. Try Newspaper (no, I'm not kidding), the black and white pages seem to work better than the colored ones.

Also, I have found in the past it's much harder to get the windows truly clean in the garage, have to clean them outside to see that you got everything.

I've found that using a rag that has been washed and then put in the dryer with a fabric softener sheet will totally screw up your windows...don't use fabric softener on your rags!!!!

Why would you use fabric softener anyways? You aren't going to wear it and it's not your blanket or anything.

A fabric softener sheet will happily take bugs off the front of your car, I don't see it being helpful on a rag you use to clean windows (and no, you should be using fabric softener on your car cleaning rags anyway).

Wouldnt the ink on the newspaper get on the glass? Can you post up your method?

Nope, never get ink on the glass, be careful if you have a light colored interior not to wipe off excess spray on the door panels as it will come off there.

No method out of the ordinary, use the plain regular daily newspaper, spray light mist of whatever cleaner (I have used everything from a VERY diluted dishsoap in a spray bottle of water to any one of the Automotive window cleaners) slightly wad up the paper and wipe off the cleaner. After about 2 windows finish wadding up the paper and start on another one.

I swear in 10 years of trying stuff while detailing customer cars to another 5 or 6 of just my own this is the absolute best method for getting crystal clear, non-streaked windows every time. I assume the ink has something to do with the results and obviously there is no lint to contend with.
