Rock Chips! UGH!
I just don't get it. I bought my car used 2 months ago from a friend. Although he's very big on maintenance, he's not real big on detailing. The cheapest turtle wax is probably all this car saw before I bought it.
The weekend after I bought it I did a complete zaino detail. wash, clay, wash, 3 coats of Z-5, 3 coats of Z-2. While detailing I noticed "maybe" 4 or 5 very small rock chips. That's 4 or 5 chips in almost 2 years and 12k miles on a car owned by a guy who isn't big on "clean".
Now 2 months and 1200 miles later and I've at least doubled the number of chips. They're very small, almost looks like paint specs.
Is this the result of not putting a wax on over the zaino? Or just bad luck on my part?
I understand I'm not going to avoid chips from flying rocks, but what I'm seeing is very, very, very tiny chips along the front of the hood.
Any help ideas??? It's too late for clear bra.

The polish claims it's somewhat stronger that wax (just lasts longer or protects even) iono. My followup question is: polishing comes before wax or vice versa? I try avoiding big rigs with fat tires that shoots from all angle. Other than that, wax should do the job as to reflecting debris but RoCKS are another story.
Ehhh, IMHO, its bs. No wax or polish on the market can withstand rockchips. Just a part of daily motoring. You can get the 3M clear bra, but for the cost of it (about $300ish), you can just respray your front clip for a little bit more every 3 years or so.
I've heard that a good bra will set you back a lot more than $300. You can get the plastic itself for $300 maybe, but getting a good installer to lay it on gets it into the $1000 range from what I've heard.
There are some decent rock chip repair products, so you can repair chips between repaints, but the S2000 is low and just seems to attract rocks. There is really no way for a wax to stand up to a rock, just doesn't make sense when you stop and think about it. If I had a mirror and put a coat of carnuba on and then threw a rock at it...i'd be in for 7 years bad luck

Sucks because I really am careful about where I drive, what I drive behind, how close, etc....
What are the decent rock chip repair products you speak of?
