Rubber seal roughened surface
Recently, I noticed that the rubber seal around the edges of the soft top has this roughened look on sections of it. I now realize this is how I bought it from the dealer, but didn't notice it until recently. It looks as if someone took a coarse piece of sandpaper and just sanded parts of it to get rid of the shiny polished surface. Maybe this happened when they removed all those white sheets of protecting plastic for new cars, and it ripped some of the surface rubber off? Is there anything I can do about it? Unfortunately, I live far from the dealer I got it from and then I don't know if I want them trying to replace it and seal it up again. Is there anything I can do to give it a smooth, polished look like the original? Superfine sandpaper? Some detailing product?
Thanks for your help.
Thanks for your help.
you should be using something like shin etsu grease on it periodically (i think that the owners manual even suggests this).
pic of the shin etsu is in this thread, and more info on other products:

i would try that first to see if it helps.
other rubber products should work too (vinylex and 303 have sunscreen protection which is also nice for the rubber on a convertible)

Your problem is not wear and tear, heck, that should be under warranty. Take it to Honda and bitch up a storm if need be. Come to think of it, the seals around BOTH of my door edges on the top/inner aspect near where the window is have two slits in them from use and my car is only a few months old. Warranty!
