Should I do the whole process again?
Hey guys, I got my Zaino late last year and only got to put on one coat around mid November. I'm planning to do it as soon as it gets warm, perhaps mid March. Should I redo the whole process again or just wash and apply Z5? I remember reading somewhere that one coat lasts 3 months.. Our winter has been very mild this year in Toronto.. Will I be ok with just wash and Z5?
If you're using Z-1 for a base coat, you need to reapply it about every six months on a daily driver or once a year/every 10 coats of Z-2/Z-5 on a garage queen. Some people like to use clay bar once a year to keep the surface really clean by lifting contaminants off the paint.
Personally, since Spring is coming, I would wash with Z-7 and use Z-1 and Z-2/Z-5. You'll be set for months if you do this.
The other alternative is to use ZFX, Zaino's new Flash Cure Accelerator. It's an additive you mix with Z-2/Z-5 that allows you to apply up to 3 coats of polish per day. It only has to stay on the car about 30 minutes. If I were going to use ZFX to apply 3 coats of polish to a S2K, I would not mix more than 3/4 of an ounce. More info at www.zainobros.com.
