This has probably been asked a 1,000 times before... when looking at the front grill, there is an ugly silver canister that stands out like a sore thumb...

What is it? And can I paint it black to hide it?

You must be referring to the A/C thing. I can't remember if it is an evaporator, dryer, condenser whatever. I think it would be a pain to paint. You might be able to apply some high performance vinyl that you can obtain cheaply from a sign shop. Better yet, some of the perforated metal grilles would do the trick.

Love2: A simple solution is to rap the front exposed portion of the cylinder with black electrcians tape. No mess and no grill removal.

How 'bout a piece of black shrink wrap tubing. The heat from the radiator will probably shrink the tubing. I've been meaning to try it.

It's the dryer, and although I have not done it, it would be pretty easy to mask around it and spray with some flat black.

Thanks for the responses... Went ahead and did the easiest thing, black electrical tape. Might have to redo it in a few weeks/months, but what the heck, it was sunny, 55 degrees out, and the car kept telling me "put the top down and take me for a ride!!"

See you all in Asheville!

mods: black electrical tape on the a/c drier!

It's the condenser.
